Hello Rach, makes that Bus we took on Kalymnos seem far too straightforward!

I had fun when I went to Turkey with Dolmushes there - cram as many people onto minibuses as possible - me and Philippa then did the guess where you are having never been there before and ask the driver to stop game!

Miss you lots - hope you are having fun - Star and Pocky are very very settled here - Pocky is currently on the big round chair in the lounge asleep and Star is sleeping next to Coddy on the sofa.

I think transport and all those little things make you realise how fortunate the western world actually is for these things. We take so much forgranted through the norm. The problem here though is that the western world has gone too far with things. We expect things that shouldn't be expected. We've lost respect, culture, tradition and manners. Although they may not always exist in Asia at least they have the time to develop and get to that point. They haven't overstepped the mark. Taking the rough with the smooth is all part of the fun. I'll be back in Thailand for February and I have the yacht to use if you care to join me. I'm falling in to stagnancy again. I need to get away. The rat race is just not me.

Oh Delhi...the craziest city. How brave are you exploring by yourself? I remember those cycle rickshaws...the drivers are bonkers (& as if i remember very old they really should retire). Trip sounds amazing so far. Am extremely jealous as we sit roasting in the office. Very quiet without James but Martin's keeping us entertained :-) Look forward to more blogs, Hx

yes, I think I might have to install ubuntu or something but i'm putting it off because I haven't been a serious linux user since I was at uni so i'm a bit rusty. oh and also because I'm lazy :p

I bought an Aspire One recently and really like it. Didn't rate Linpus linux so I put Arch on it instead: http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Acer_Aspire_One

Ubuntu should be pretty easy get up and running too:
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/AspireOne

I'm finding the battery life isn't up to much though. A 6-cell battery - giving 5/6 hours of battery life - is available, although a bit tricky to find.

I'm sure it will pass, I'm just having the odd freakout at the moment. I'll be happier when I get my passport back from the Indian High Commission! Decided I'm going to employ my brother's girlfriend as my PA to keep me organised :p I'm more excited about it than worried 99% of the time but i can't help stopping and thinking "what the hell am I doing??!" every now and again!

I'm glad I'm leaving too and thanks for the offer of contacts :) it's amazing how many people know someone living in New Zealand! I may well take you up on the offer at some point.

Tell Gib we're all dying to meet her! Do you know when you're coming back yet?

Suffering from "what if" syndrome. It happens alot for big events like the one you are undertaking. There's an infinite number of what ifs so instead of thinking they are going to happen just accept that some will happen and deal with them at that time. You can't plan for every eventuality. As long as you have planned the things you need to get from A to B the rest will fall in to place.

Gib is suffering from the same thing. It's essentially her first time out of the country so I understand. Maybe it's a girl thing, the subjective rather than the objective. Remember the world is so small these days, communication is not an issue and help is only a phone call away.

I am so glad you are taking the initiative to pack up shop, say "fuck the system" and do your own thing. I've been waiting for at least one of my friends there to do it. I'm proud of you. I have people to support you if needed in Islamabad, all over Thailand, parts of Aus, Philipines, Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia, Cambodia and New Zealand.
